10 Years of Supporting HMAS Choules.

Atlantic and Peninsula Australia (A&P Australia) Pty Ltd specialises in providing marine platform through-life and in-service support to the Australian defence sector.

Best known for providing outstanding in-service support for the Bay Class Landing Ship Dock, HMAS Choules, the company has expanded its presence significantly since its incorporation in Australia in 2012 and has delivered the largest vessel refit to take place in Sydney in the last 15 years.

In 2022, HMAS Choules successfully undocked after the completion of her docking programme of works.

The undocking marked the half-way point of Refit Period 21 (RP21) where A&P simultaneously delivered the largest sustainment work package delivered for Choules at the same time as the installation of numerous major capability enhancements for the SEA3030-2 Capability Assurance Project (CAP).

This project is likely the largest ship repair project conducted in Sydney in the last 15-years, spanning over 300 days, costing approximately $90m and delivered by over 80 suppliers with up to 400 personnel involved each day.

Scott Willey, Managing Director of A&P Australia, said: “undocking on-time for a project of this scale and complexity is a big deal and we are delighted with the progress made so far by our team and supply chain.

“The simultaneous delivery of both Sustainment and CAP programme has given A&P Australia a platform to showcase the breadth of our expertise and capabilities, and the refit now remains on time and on track despite the challenges faced by the pandemic.

“I am extremely proud of the A&P Australia team and our ever-expanding network of in-country suppliers, who worked “all hands to the deck” to deliver this ground-breaking programme of works.”
